About us

The PG course in Pharmacognosy was introduced in 2009-10. The department is a recognized research centre for M. Pharm and PhD programs under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka.

State-of-the-art laboratories and facilities are available to isolate, characterize and estimate secondary constituents. The department has received a sum of Rs. 16 lakh research grants from VGST and RGUHS.

Research thrust areas as recognized by major funding agencies

Validation of traditional knowledge in the areas of diabetes, cancer, etc.

Search for acetylcholinesterase inhibitors from indigenous medicinal plants

Search for aldose reductase inhibitors from folklore remedies for possible management of diabetic complications.
